About the company

Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou, a.s. is a traditional Czech company. All our products are manufactured directly in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. The four plants are almost exclusively staffed by local employees, many of whom have linked their entire professional careers with Kovoplast. Experienced employees who know their craft perfectly guarantee quality products.

We can offer our customers proper Czech products, which find their customers abroad. Almost a third of our output is exported throughout Europe, especially to Germany, France and Slovakia.

History

1949
Founding of Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou

From as early as 1949, Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou as a state-owned enterprise has produced a wide range of metal and plastic products in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Nový Bydžov, Praskačka and Nechanice.

1955
The beginning of car rear-view mirror production

The history of production of our core portfolio dates back to 1955, when Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou began producing rear-view mirrors for Škoda cars. Since then, the range of rear-view mirrors has expanded to buses, lorries, trams and other commercial vehicles.

1994
Transformation into a joint-stock company

In 1994 the legal status of the company was transformed into KOVOPLAST Chlumec nad Cidlinou, a.s. Throughout the 28 years of its modern existence, the company has remained in Czech hands.

2000
Attained ISO 9001 certification

In 2000, the company was awarded ISO 9001 quality management certification, which it has successfully defended ever since.

2020
Attained IATF 16949 certification

In 2020, the company successfully passed an audit for the award of automotive industry standard IATF 16 949 certification, which confirms the quality of the company's products.

Our cooperation with IVECO historically dates back to when Karosa was the manufacturer of buses in Vysoké Mýto. It was subsequently incorporated into IVECO and renamed IVECO Czech Republic in 2007.

We currently not only supply rear-view mirrors to the Vysoké Mýto production plant, but also to Annonay in France and Antalya in Turkey.

Iveco
Our mirrors are widely used on Škoda vehicles. Whether it's trams, metro or trains.

Kovoplast mirrors were and are still used on Tatra T3 cars, which can still be seen in Prague, as well as their modern successors, the Škoda 15T trams, which also have mirrors made by Kovoplast.

We continue to successfully meet increasingly demanding customer requirements, which is why our products are also available on the brand new 40T for Plzeň and the 45T for Brno. Together with Škoda Transportation, we have developed a completely new electric folding mirror mechanism specifically for these trams.

In addition to trams, we are also a supplier of mirrors for the Prague Metro, as well as for the St. Petersburg Metro.

A completely new segment for which we have developed a special mirror with a folding mechanism is the single-decker suburban train project.

Saturday: 8 am – 11 am

Company shop

Our customers have access to our company shop where they can see and buy our products. The shop’s assortment is expanded to include household and gardening supplies. Since 2019, the shop has been open in new premises directly in the square in Chlumec nad Cidlinou.

The company Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou, a.s. the Photovoltaic Power Plant project is implemented by Kovoplast Chlumec nad Cidlinou, a.s. – location Chlumec n/C, reg. No.: CZ.31.3.0/0.0/0.0/22_001/0005250, the purpose of which is the installation of a photovoltaic power plant for the applicant’s own consumption. With the help of the use of renewable resources, the supply of electricity for business activities will be optimized. Financial support for this project is provided from EU funds through the National Recovery Plan.
